In one line: everything you type into Lab Desk - patients, doctors, tests, results, reports, your letterhead - stays on your own device and is never sent to a server of ours. The one part of the app that uses the internet is the advertisement it shows.
Lab Desk is an Android application published by Hemangbhai (hemangbhai.in). For any question about this policy or about data in the app, write to hello@hemangbhai.in.
Lab Desk is a report-generation tool for professional laboratory use. It is used by laboratory staff to record patients, doctors, tests and results, and to produce a laboratory report as a PDF or a printed sheet. It does not diagnose, does not interpret results and does not replace review by a qualified pathologist.
Everything in the app is entered by the laboratory that installed it:
Some of this is health-related information about a patient. It is entered by laboratory staff, not collected by us.
Only on the device, in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. No part of Lab Desk's own code has a network client: the patient database, the laboratory profile, the PDFs and the backup files are written to private storage and stay there. We never receive any of it.
The app does display advertising supplied by Google AdMob (section 6a), and that advertising software needs the internet permission, which it adds to the app for itself. That permission belongs to the ad SDK's traffic, not to your records.
The app also switches off Android's own cloud backup and device-transfer backup for itself, so the operating system does not copy this data to a Google account or to another device.
Lab Desk is free, and it shows advertising supplied by Google AdMob. That is the only use of the internet in the app.
If you would rather not see advertising at all, the app works fully without a network connection: turn off mobile data and Wi-Fi and every laboratory function still works, with no ad shown.
Only when the person using the app chooses to send it:
Lab Desk is intended for professional laboratory staff and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly handle information about children beyond what a laboratory records about its patients.
Data stays until the laboratory deletes it. Individual patients, doctors, tests, profiles and reports can be deleted inside the app, each snapshot can be deleted from the Backup screen, and uninstalling the app removes all of its data from the device. Because nothing is stored off the device, there is no copy anywhere else for us to delete.
The laboratory that installs Lab Desk is the custodian of the patient data it enters. It is responsible for who uses the device, for keeping the device locked, for the security of any report or backup file it exports out of the app, and for following the record-keeping and confidentiality rules that apply to it.
If the app ever begins to handle data differently, this page will be updated before that version is released, and the effective date below will change.
