Smart Attendance — Data Deletion
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Smart Attendance is an attendance and salary app for a single office, used by that office's own administrator. Staff do not have accounts, and the app holds no account data about staff — the only account is the office administrator's own sign-in. This page explains every way to delete the records the app keeps, and what happens to each copy. Contact: hello@hemangbhai.in.
Ways to delete your data
There are five routes. If you have a sign-in, the account itself is deleted with the Delete account button in the app (route 1) — no email and no support step stands between you and it.
1. Delete the account inside the app
Sign in, open Settings, and tap Delete account at the bottom of the Admin account card. Confirm, and (if Android asks) type your password again. That one action:
- deletes your administrator account;
- deletes the office's holidays, leave and settings documents from the office's own area of the Firebase project;
- erases everything on that device — staff, attendance, leave, holidays, salary and settings — and its cached copy, and cancels the end-of-day reminder job;
- returns the app to its first-run screen.
2. Delete records inside the app
- Staff — open the staff member and delete the record. It is soft-deleted: it disappears from the working lists but the row is kept so past salaries still add up.
- Holidays and leave — open the entry and delete it; those rows are removed.
- Attendance — a marked day is corrected rather than removed, because it is the payroll record. Open the day to fix the times or the mark.
- Salary — recompute a month after correcting the days behind it.
3. Clear the app's data, or uninstall the app
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Smart Attendance → Storage → Clear data. This removes everything on that device: the local database (staff, attendance, leave, holidays, salary), and the app's settings. The app returns to its first-run state.
- Uninstalling the app removes the same device data.
4. Delete the office's own cloud copy
If the office signs in, the records above are copied to that office's own private area of the
app's Firebase project (Google Cloud, Mumbai region / asia-south1), so the office has
a backup and can use a second device. That copy is the office's own data, and the
project's security rules stop any other office from reading it.
- Signing out stops the sync — nothing further is uploaded from the device — but it does not delete the copy already in the cloud.
- Inside the app, the office can delete the holidays, leave and config documents it no longer needs — and Delete account (route 1) does that itself on the way out.
- The staff, attendance and salary documents are kept deliberately: they are the payroll record, and the project's rules forbid deleting them from the app itself. To remove those, sign in and delete that office's documents in the Firebase console, or write to hello@hemangbhai.in and they will be removed.
- There is no server of the publisher's own. The only copy that ever leaves the device is the office's own data, in the office's own area of the Firebase project.
5. Request deletion by email
Write to hello@hemangbhai.in with the office name (and the sign-in email, if there is one). We will delete the account and its cloud copy, and confirm when it is done.
We keep no copy of the office's data ourselves, so there is nothing extra on our side to delete.
What the publisher keeps
Nothing. Smart Attendance has no server of the publisher's own: the app exchanges records directly with the office's own Firebase area. The publisher holds no separate copy of the office's records. Once the device copy (route 3) and the office's cloud copy (route 4 or 5) are gone, the data is gone.
How long data is kept
Data is kept until one of the routes above removes it. There is no automatic expiry, and the publisher keeps no backup of the office's data.
