Work — Smart Attendance
Smart Attendance
Staff attendance and salary, marked by hand.
An attendance and salary app for the office that has to keep staff attendance without a laptop on the counter. The staff list is on the office phone, the day is marked by tapping a name, and the pay is worked out from rules you set once.
The short version
The attendance register and the payslip.
Smart Attendance is not on Google Play yet. Everything on this page comes from the app itself.

What it does
Six things it takes off the counter.
Written for the office that marks attendance by hand today.
Mark attendance in two taps
- The office phone or tablet on the counter is the kiosk, with the staff list right there
- Tap a name and confirm — the app says in words what it is about to write, so nobody is marked by accident
- The clock decides whether that was a check-in or a check-out; the IN and OUT buttons override it when the admin knows better
- Because the person is chosen from a list, a colleague can never be marked by mistake
Works with no internet
- Everything is stored on the device and keeps working when the connection drops
- When the internet is back, the office's own private copy is updated automatically
- A lost or replaced tablet does not lose the attendance history
- Nothing waits on a server for the next screen
Honest salary maths
- Daily rate is the monthly salary divided by the days in that month — 31 in January, 28 in February
- The app shows the arithmetic on the screen, so the figure can be checked line by line
- Half days, paid and unpaid leave, holidays, overtime and late marks are counted by rules you set once
- Every payslip can be opened to see exactly how the amount was reached
Leave and holidays
- Add a holiday for the year in one tap, and the day stops counting as an absence
- Leave is entered and approved straight away, from the same screen the office already uses
- An unpaid leave is warned about before it is saved
- The month's register shows holidays, leave and absences as what they are, not as one blank
Reports you can hand over
- Daily and monthly reports export as Excel (.xlsx), CSV, or a printable A4 PDF
- In the Excel file the money column adds up, because the values are real numbers and not text
- The same marks are used in the app and in the export, so the sheet and the screen agree
- The register draws every day of the month, and a day that has not arrived yet is not an absence
Built for one office
- One owner/admin account, with attendance marked from the staff list
- Staff do not need accounts of their own
- This is a staff attendance app: there is no student or school attendance anywhere in it
- Alerts for what needs attention — nobody marked, a day auto-closed, a shift left open
Where your data lives
The office's records, in the office's own space.
The attendance and salary records are kept on the device and keep working offline. The only data that leaves the phone is the office's own records, going to the office's own private area in Firebase — a workspace no other office can read.
Staff details are what the office types in: a name, an optional phone number and email, and the salary figure it pays. The app takes no photos and asks for no camera permission, has no biometrics, and uses no analytics or crash reporting.
One banner ad (Google AdMob, below the navigation bar) is what keeps the app free. It is served with the device's advertising ID, and it never sees a staff name, an attendance mark or a salary figure — none of that is part of an ad request.
The admin can delete the account inside the app, under Settings → Delete account, which removes the account and this device's copy. The steps are also written out on the deletion page.
